The magicJack dissolved in late 2011, and then the WPS was dissolved in early 2012. Rapinoe played for Sydney Football Club FC in the Australian W-League for a couple games prior to her return back to America. After that, Rapinoe played for the Seattle Washington Sounders Women - currently Sound FC. For the 2013 season she played soccer in France. Then she joined the Seattle Reign FC now OL Reign of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL that was formed following the WPS was disbanded. Rapinoe was one of the team's leading scorers before becoming coach of the club. Rapinoe has won two bronze medals at her part in the United States' 4-3 win against Australia at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Japan has been postponed until 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
